The Start

After many years (35) of trying to paint (well lets say I at least took stabs at it),

I decided to set up a little area in the corner of my bedroom as my studio.

The light is good, it is easily assessable, and I like it there! I can see my painting

before I go to bed and then again in the morning.

This will help me to stay focused on my passion

and not get so caught up into the practicality of the day.

The Blog I hope will keep me motivated to speak about

my painting process and my journey back into my passion.

Day 5

Another Quick Day of Painting! I am happy with the progression of particular areas. Still needs work overall but getting there.

This area of the blue is nice. I am not sure about the rest.
This I really like and will continue to develop but not overdo.

Truffles just got comfortable and now I'm cleaning up.

Day 4

Today I worked fast and messy. I noticed that I really like to use my "brush from the past".  I on instinct know how to use it in many different ways and it just feels comfortable in my hand. I will observe this more as the painting progresses.

Close up of the flower......I like how it is developing!

Getting closer.

Truffles thinks, that was quick!

Day 3

Today I was not going to paint but I did! I Just felt like so I did::) At this point in my paintings I have to be careful not to over do it. If I over do it the colors will get muddy and I will lose the beauty of the layers of paint. Being too cautious would also not be good because then I lose the flow and heart of the painting. It's a fine line. No cat's today. Not sure what that means. Most likely they were very busy sleeping.

Day 2

Picking base color for the sky. Did not like color #1 (too rosie) so I scraped it. Color #2 is better but needs more white. Color #3 Perfect!

Truffles likes Color #3. I think she is going to try and paint with her tail.

Color #3 on the canvas.

Now the sky color. The top color is too purple so I remixed and came up with the new sky color.

Let's try this brush! I've never had much luck with it before.
I liked the way that brush worked! Whoops forgot to take a picture of the finished peach sky. Well you can see how it looks on the right side. I put paint on that side and pulled it away with a cloth.   So it looks like a peach washed canvas. Also I used some sky color to start creating the flower.
My Mom always said "Clean as you Go" It works great when your Painting in a Corner. Hey look one of my favorite brushes in the front. I used this brush in college.

So if you were wondering where Scruffy was today. He was lounging on the bed behind me watching every move of the brush.

Day One

Note to Artist: I must make sure the cats have a glass of water while I paint or mine will be gone.

My new glass of water and the pic I took at Long Wood Gardens PA about 3 years ago. Looks like I'm ready to paint it!

Basic drawing with pencil and yellow ochre paint. Then a base color for the background. Opposite on the color wheel to the color I plan to use. It gives richness to the color this way.

Building the paint on the canvas with very watered down paint. I will build layer upon layer of paint till I achieve the color and texture I want.

Well that is all for today. I'm going to run some errands and build this blog!
